Every pupil has different strengths and weaknesses. Some may have learning difficulties because of a special educational need. Others may need greater challenges in their learning because of a special gift or talent. At Sunninghill we want to meet the needs of every child in our care to ensure that they fulfil their full potential. Unfortunately we are unable to meet the needs of every prospective pupil, particularly those with severe learning difficulties. We therefore test every child who applies for a place at our school to ensure that we will be able to do the best for them.

For those with more mild learning difficulties, we have a Special Needs teacher who can provide extra one-to-one support, but this may be at an additional cost. Those with a special gift or talent are identified and developed through extra tuition, additional clubs and through links with other similar children. Many of these children will be prepared for scholarships to senior independent schools or for the top sets at local senior state schools. In both cases we ensure that our teaching is fully differentiated to ensure success for each child at their appropriate level.
