At Sunninghill Prep, we believe it is very important to play an active role in our local community. At the same time, in the ever-shrinking world we live in, we feel it is vital for our pupils to understand the wider community at National, European and global levels. As a result, we have a growing programme of links and exchanges that are being actively developed. As leaders of the future, our pupils need to learn to get on and mix with others in their local community.
Equally, in order to maintain our charitable status we need to offer public benefit to the local area. However of utmost importance is that we are an outward-looking school that seeks to learn from and share with others in our neighbourhood. At present we are involved in DASP (Dorchester Area Schools Partnership) with our local schools, Dorchester BID (Business Improvement District) scheme, as well as with local charities and schools.
Through our friends, governors and parents, we aim to expand and enhance many of these local projects. We have also established a link with other prep schools in the UK and abroad, including Mosman Prep in Sydney, Australia. We aim to follow up the initial teacher exchanges with multi-cultural pupil exchanges in the future. Beyond the UK we have established a tie-up with a French secondary school. Our aim is to widen and develop this to include other schools across the European Union. This will be followed with links to other parts of the world in order to give our pupils a truly global perspective. |
