Dorchester Business Improvement District
Dorchester Business Improvement District (DBID) is a local business organisation that represents the central district of the town of Dorchester. It aims to develop the town facilties and amenities to enhance the visitors' experience and thereby improving the business prospects for the town. At the same time it represents an opportunity to pull together the businesses, charities and schools into a working partnership that is beneficial to all parties.
Sunninghill Prep School has engaged with the local businesses in a number of ways. It has welcomed local firms to take part in its Christmas and Summer Fairs and to sell their products to our visitors. It has also worked with the local businesses to promote economic awareness and understanding through the Form 8 'The Business' programme. The DBID Project Director has been on the panel of the Lion's Lair where students presented their business plans and ideas to local business people and part of their PSHE programme. Local firms also sponsored the event with prizes and awards for the various teams.
The pupils have also been involved in designing a recyclable bag for shoppers to Dorchester to buy as a momento of the town.
